“This was such a heartwarming and relatable story. Wynn Wants to Start a Club introduces readers to a young girl with anxiety that sometimes leaves her feeling paralyzed.
The idea of starting a club brings together topics such as friendship, courage, and the power of not facing your fears alone.
One of the things I loved was how supportive Wynn’s parents were. This added a comforting layer to the story that showed the importance of understanding and encouragement at home.
This book does a beautiful job of normalizing anxiety while still being uplifting and age appropriate. It leaves you rooting for Wynn and her friends. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!” - Stacie
“First, I want to start off by saying that I am not a huge fan of reading, it takes a certain type of Book to keep me intrigued.
With that being said, I read The Anxiety Book Club Series and it definitely intrigued me, I actually didn’t put it down until I was done.
I am a mom who has had to watch her child struggle with Anxiety, and to be quite honest I never knew how to help. Which then leads the parent to some anxieties because we can’t fix.
Reading how the mind of a child works with anxiety taught me some ways to cope and help my child through some of his struggles. Also helps the parent to learn there is no fixing. That supporting and trying to understand will be what I can do.
I think this book could truly help teach parents and children to learn that they are not alone and that they should ever be ashamed of anxiety.
Loved this read and am waiting patiently for the next book in the series.” - Ashley
As an editor, I can’t help getting attached to the books I edit, and rooting so hard for each author’s success. It’s part of the job for me. Balancing professional feedback with genuine love for each book helps me craft the feedback each author needs.
But nothing could have prepared me for Ky Evans and her magical Anxiety Club series.
I knew the first moment we spoke that Ky was a truly special person, a ray of light who was also fully grounded in what it is to wrangle an anxious brain and challenging situations. I normally take a gently detached attitude after a potential client call. I trust that if it’s right, we’ll work together, and if not, that’s ok too. Every book deserves to find the perfect editor, whether that’s me or someone else.
After meeting Ky though, I was in a tizzy hoping she would pick me!
Every moment of working on this series has been the kind of delight I’m not sure many editors are ever lucky enough to experience. I’m blessed that Ky welcomed me not just as an editor, but as a coach and collaborator, so I could walk beside her as the book and characters took form.
Wynn, Cabi, Emmie, Jay, Charlie and Teddie have touched my life way beyond my professional work on the book. I carry those girls in my heart wherever I go. The lessons they learn throughout the book have stayed with me, and in difficult moments I find myself returning to the techniques they share with each other, and imagining what they would say if they were there with me.
I applied to work with Ky because I’m passionate about mental health - I used to chair a local mental health centre - and I believed in her vision. I was hoping for a fascinating project. I walked away with seven lifelong friends.
